AW 1997 Undercover Oversized Collar Long Coat

This extremely rare piece of outerwear from Jun Takahashi’s fourth year of Undercover interestingly exhibits hints of Comme des Garçons. Rei Kawakubo mentored Jun in the mid to late 90’s, which may have been why some of the earliest Undercover pieces we see, like this coat, had an oversized silhouette, unlike that of his 2000’s work. That being said, this trench-style piece is distinctly Undercover, with a rugged mixed-weave wool fabric that appears as grunge as ever.
